A voice AI companion makes conversation feel less like filling in a form. You can say what is on your mind and hear a response, rather than building every exchange around a keyboard. Syren is designed around that simple idea. It is a private, invite-only beta for adults, with two distinct companions, Ember and Cash, and an option to preview a companion design of your own.
What does voice-first mean here?
Voice is an option from the start, not a decorative add-on. In the app, you can speak or type. If you speak, your microphone audio is processed for transcription; the companion’s response can then be spoken back. Conversation still has ordinary limits: audio quality, connection speed, and the words you choose all affect the experience. A recorded sample on this website lets you hear a voice, but it is not a live conversation.
There is no perfect opener to prepare. You might describe the day you have had, ask for a thoughtful question, or set a lighter tone. The companion responds according to its own style and the boundaries of the service. Ember leans warm, playful, and perceptive. Cash is more controlled, intense, and attentive. Those differences matter more than a generic promise that every exchange will sound the same.
How do you choose a voice?
Listen to the approved Ember samples and Cash samples first. The short clips demonstrate vocal character and pacing; they are not recordings of your future conversations. If neither feels like your choice, the no-account companion preview lets you choose a name, up to three traits, a feminine or masculine sample voice, and an orb color. The preview does not create an active companion. You can attach that design to an invitation request if you decide to continue.
What happens after you request an invitation?
Syren is currently in an invite-only beta. A request is an expression of interest, not immediate access or a promise of a particular invitation date. The app requires an approved account and age verification before conversation. Syren is for adults 18 and older.
Voice can feel personal, so read the privacy and control guide before sharing sensitive details. Syren offers memory controls and account deletion, while third-party processors and backups have limits described in the Privacy Policy. You remain responsible for what you choose to say.
