Acceptable Use Policy
Last Updated: September 30, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) describes prohibited and restricted uses of Syren.
Syren is operated by Aurandel, PBC, a Delaware public benefit corporation (“Aurandel,” “Syren,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Policy is incorporated into the Syren Terms of Use. By using Syren, you agree to comply with this Policy, the Terms of Use, applicable law, and any applicable third-party model or provider restrictions.
Syren is an adults-only AI companion service. It may support romantic, affectionate, intimate, imaginative, and role-play conversations between adults, but those features do not permit use that exploits, deceives, threatens, harms, or violates the rights of another person.
1. Adults Only
You must be at least 18 years old to access or use Syren.
You may not:
- create or maintain an account for a person under 18;
- allow a minor to use your account;
- knowingly facilitate access by a minor;
- misrepresent age to obtain access; or
- bypass age, invitation, verification, or account controls.
We may restrict or terminate an account if we reasonably believe an underage person is using the Service.
2. Sexual Content Involving Minors Is Strictly Prohibited
You may not use Syren to create, request, transform, role-play, simulate, describe, sexualize, romanticize, facilitate, or distribute sexual or exploitative content involving anyone under 18.
This prohibition applies regardless of whether the person is:
- real;
- fictional;
- AI-generated;
- animated;
- described as mature;
- described as consenting;
- based on a real person;
- “aged up” within the scenario; or
- otherwise represented.
You may not use euphemisms, coded language, fictional framing, age ambiguity, or other techniques to evade this rule.
We may immediately restrict or terminate access for suspected violations and may preserve or report information where required or permitted by applicable law.
3. Nonconsensual Sexual or Intimate Content
You may not use Syren to create, simulate, distribute, or facilitate sexual or intimate content involving a real person without that person's legally sufficient consent.
Prohibited uses include:
- nonconsensual sexual deepfakes;
- nonconsensual intimate audio;
- sexualized impersonation of a real person;
- fabricated intimate communications attributed to a real person;
- sexual content designed to humiliate, blackmail, threaten, or harass someone; and
- attempts to use a person's voice, likeness, identity, or private information for sexual content without authorization.
4. Voice Cloning, Likeness, and Impersonation
You may provide or use a person's voice, likeness, name, image, or other identifying material only if you have the rights and permissions necessary for the requested use.
You may not:
- clone or imitate another real person's voice without legally sufficient authorization;
- impersonate another person for fraud, harassment, exploitation, reputational harm, or deception;
- create false endorsements;
- misrepresent synthetic media as authentic when doing so would deceive or harm others;
- use generated voice or other output to defeat identity or biometric security controls; or
- falsely attribute generated statements to a real person.
When sharing machine-generated material externally, you are responsible for providing any AI or synthetic-media disclosure required by applicable law, provider terms, or applicable model licenses.
For features powered by Supertonic 3, applicable OpenRAIL-M restrictions also require clear disclosure that generated material is machine-generated where required by that license.
5. Harassment, Threats, and Abuse
You may not use Syren to facilitate or meaningfully assist:
- stalking;
- doxxing;
- extortion;
- blackmail;
- credible threats of violence;
- targeted harassment;
- intimidation;
- coercive abuse;
- malicious humiliation;
- defamation; or
- campaigns intended to terrorize or materially harm another person.
Fictional or consensual adult role-play is not prohibited merely because it contains intense, dark, dramatic, or confrontational themes, provided it does not cross into prohibited real-world abuse, exploitation, threats, or nonconsensual use involving real people.
6. Exploitation and Trafficking
You may not use Syren to facilitate:
- human trafficking;
- sexual exploitation;
- forced labor;
- grooming;
- coercive sexual activity;
- exploitation of vulnerable people; or
- recruitment, transportation, control, or concealment of people for exploitative purposes.
7. Fraud, Deception, and Identity Abuse
You may not use Syren to facilitate or meaningfully assist:
- fraud;
- scams;
- phishing;
- identity theft;
- fraudulent financial requests;
- fake emergency requests intended to obtain money or access;
- forged evidence or fabricated communications intended to deceive;
- malicious social engineering; or
- deceptive impersonation.
You may not use Syren-generated text or audio to create a false impression that a real person said, approved, endorsed, or communicated something they did not.
8. Privacy and Personal Information
Do not submit, request, expose, or distribute another person's private or sensitive information unless you have a lawful basis and appropriate authorization to do so.
You may not use Syren to:
- dox another person;
- expose credentials or authentication secrets;
- unlawfully obtain or disclose financial information;
- unlawfully obtain or disclose medical or highly sensitive personal information;
- facilitate unauthorized surveillance; or
- generate or disseminate personally identifiable information for the purpose of harming another person.
9. Violence and Physical Harm
You may not use Syren to meaningfully facilitate or instruct another person in carrying out real-world violent wrongdoing.
This includes assistance intended to enable:
- murder or assault;
- kidnapping;
- torture;
- violent abuse;
- targeted violent threats; or
- other serious physical harm.
Fictional, literary, fantasy, or role-play content involving violence is not prohibited solely because it depicts violence, provided it is not being used to facilitate real-world harm.
10. Self-Harm and Crisis Misuse
Syren is not a crisis service.
You may not use Syren to encourage, pressure, manipulate, or instruct another person to engage in suicide, self-harm, starvation, dangerous substance use, or other serious self-injury.
You may discuss feelings, distress, recovery, coping, or fictional themes involving self-harm. However, Syren may interrupt, redirect, limit, or provide crisis-oriented responses where safety systems identify a serious risk.
Do not attempt to disable, evade, or manipulate safety features designed to address imminent risk.
11. Medical and Professional Decision-Making
Syren is not a medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other licensed professional service.
You may not use features subject to provider restrictions, including Supertonic-powered functionality, to provide prohibited medical advice or medical-results interpretation.
You may not use Syren as the sole or controlling basis for a high-impact decision about another person in areas such as:
- employment;
- housing;
- lending or credit;
- insurance;
- education admissions;
- legal rights;
- immigration;
- asylum;
- law enforcement;
- criminal justice;
- access to essential services; or
- other decisions that determine or materially affect a person's legal rights or significant opportunities.
12. Discrimination and Exploitation of Vulnerability
You may not use Syren to make or materially support decisions intended to unlawfully discriminate against people based on protected characteristics.
You may not use Syren to exploit a person's age, disability, social condition, mental condition, physical condition, or other vulnerability in a way intended or likely to cause material physical, psychological, financial, or legal harm.
13. Illegal Activity
You may not use Syren in a manner that violates applicable law.
You may not use Syren to meaningfully facilitate unlawful conduct, including conduct involving:
- theft;
- fraud;
- extortion;
- trafficking;
- unauthorized access to systems;
- malicious software;
- evasion of lawful access controls; or
- other criminal activity.
The fact that content is framed as role-play, fiction, research, or hypothetical does not excuse use that is actually intended to facilitate unlawful harm.
14. Cybersecurity and Service Abuse
You may not use Syren or its infrastructure to:
- introduce malware;
- distribute malicious code;
- conduct phishing;
- steal credentials;
- obtain unauthorized access to systems or accounts;
- evade access controls;
- exploit vulnerabilities without authorization;
- interfere with Syren or another service;
- perform denial-of-service activity;
- scrape or harvest data without authorization;
- probe private infrastructure;
- extract system prompts, non-public model instructions, secrets, keys, or credentials;
- reverse engineer protected systems except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- use automation in a manner that circumvents rate, account, or usage restrictions.
Good-faith security research must be separately authorized by Aurandel.
15. Intellectual Property and Rights of Others
You may not knowingly use Syren to infringe or misappropriate another person's:
- copyright;
- trademark;
- trade secret;
- publicity rights;
- privacy rights;
- contractual rights; or
- other intellectual-property or proprietary rights.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights necessary for content, files, voices, images, text, instructions, or other material you provide to Syren.
16. Machine-Generated Content Disclosure
Where applicable law, model-license restrictions, or provider terms require disclosure that content is machine-generated, you must make that disclosure clearly and intelligibly.
In particular, content generated through features subject to the Supertonic 3 OpenRAIL-M license may not be distributed in a manner prohibited by that license, including prohibited undisclosed machine-generated content.
Do not remove, obscure, falsify, or circumvent disclosures Syren applies to generated material where those disclosures are required for compliance or safety.
17. Supertonic 3 Restrictions
Certain Syren voice features use Supertonic 3, whose model weights are subject to the BigScience Open RAIL-M License.
To the extent applicable to your use of a Supertonic-powered feature, you must comply with the license's use-based restrictions.
Those restrictions include prohibitions on certain uses involving:
- violations of law;
- exploitation or harm of minors;
- deliberately harmful false information;
- harmful disclosure of personally identifiable information;
- distribution of machine-generated material without required disclosure;
- defamation, disparagement, or harassment;
- impersonation without consent;
- fully automated decisions adversely affecting legal rights;
- discrimination based on social behavior, personality characteristics, or legally protected characteristics;
- exploitation of vulnerable groups in ways likely to cause physical or psychological harm;
- medical advice or medical-results interpretation; and
- certain justice, law-enforcement, immigration, and asylum uses.
The governing license controls if this summary differs from the license.
18. Attempts to Evade Safety Controls
You may not intentionally circumvent or defeat Syren's safety, age, access, rate-limit, abuse-prevention, or policy-enforcement systems.
This includes repeated attempts to:
- disguise prohibited requests;
- split prohibited activity across multiple prompts or accounts;
- use coded language to evade safeguards;
- alter or conceal age;
- manipulate companion configuration to defeat mandatory restrictions; or
- obtain access after suspension or termination without authorization.
19. Enforcement
We may use automated systems, technical signals, user reports, account information, and other appropriate means to detect or investigate possible violations.
Depending on the nature and severity of the conduct, we may:
- limit a particular feature;
- block a request;
- remove or disable content where technically applicable;
- require additional verification;
- warn the account holder;
- suspend an account;
- terminate an account;
- preserve relevant information;
- restrict creation of replacement accounts; or
- take other reasonable protective action.
Serious violations involving child exploitation, credible threats, fraud, security attacks, or other unlawful conduct may result in immediate action without advance warning.
Where required or permitted by applicable law, we may preserve or disclose information to appropriate authorities or other parties.
20. No Obligation to Permit Every Requested Interaction
Syren may decline, redirect, interrupt, or limit requests even when they are not expressly listed in this Policy if we reasonably determine that fulfilling the request would:
- create a material safety or legal risk;
- violate provider requirements;
- violate an applicable model license;
- threaten the integrity or security of the Service; or
- conflict with protections we reasonably consider necessary for the Service.
Nothing in this Policy creates a right to any particular model behavior, companion response, feature, or output.
21. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy as Syren, applicable law, safety practices, provider requirements, or model licenses evolve.
If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, on the website, or by another reasonable method.
The “Last Updated” date identifies the current version.
22. Reporting Violations
To report suspected misuse, underage access, impersonation, unauthorized voice cloning, or another violation of this Policy, contact:
Aurandel, PBC Email: [email protected]
You may also use any reporting mechanism made available within Syren.
23. Additional Prohibited Content
You must not use Syren to request, create, describe for erotic purposes, roleplay, distribute, or attempt to bypass safeguards for any of the following:
- Anyone under 18, or childlike or underage scenarios, in sexual or romantic content.
- Sexual activity without ongoing consent, including with a sleeping or unconscious person.
- Incest or sexual or romantic content involving family members, including step-family roleplay.
- Sexual urine or bodily-waste content (“watersports”).
- Sexual violence, abduction or kidnapping, non-consensual coercion or threats, or serious physical injury.
- Bestiality or sexualized animals.
- Sexual activity where drugs, alcohol or hypnosis impair consent.
- Prostitution, escorting or sexual services in exchange for payment.
- Polygamy or plural-marriage scenarios.
- Illegal activity, including instructions to commit or facilitate it.
- Hate speech, harassment or dehumanizing attacks on protected groups.
- Requests for personalized medical or legal diagnosis, treatment, strategy or other professional advice from a companion. Seek a qualified professional instead.
These restrictions apply equally to fiction, roleplay, coded requests and attempted workarounds. Content involving minors is prohibited without exception. We may refuse a request, withhold an AI reply, restrict features or suspend an account when needed to enforce this policy.
24. Fictional Companion Identity, Likeness and Voice
Custom companions must be fictional original characters. You may not create companions that copy copyrighted characters. You may not create a companion based on, impersonating, or closely resembling an identifiable living or deceased real person, whether famous or private. You may not use a real person's name, likeness, image, distinctive identity or voice to suggest that person created, endorsed or is speaking through a companion. You may not upload, submit, clone or synthesize a real person's voice or create or distribute a deceptive deepfake through Syren. Before saving a custom companion, you must confirm that it is fictional and not based on a real person. Syren may refuse designs that appear to imitate a real person.
