When you look for a private AI companion, the word “private” deserves a clear explanation. Syren is an invite-only service for adults, with controls over saved companion memories and an in-app account deletion feature. It is not an offline app, an anonymous service, or a promise that no one outside Syren ever processes your information. This page gives you a practical starting point; the Privacy Policy gives the full detail.

What can you control?

The app lets you see and remove saved memories used for conversation continuity. Removing one memory removes it from Syren’s active memory system. It does not necessarily erase the same information wherever else it may appear, such as earlier conversation text, logs, backups, or information already sent to a service provider. You can also use the in-app account deletion feature. That removes associated live account data, subject to the separate backup, log, and provider timelines explained in the policy.

The public companion builder is different. Its name, traits, voice choice, and color remain in your browser until you request an invitation. If you submit, those four choices are saved with the waitlist request. The preview does not open a chat or send a conversation.

How does voice information move?

Voice input travels to Syren’s backend and may be sent to a speech-recognition provider for transcription. Syren’s current backend processes ordinary microphone uploads in memory rather than intentionally saving the original recording to persistent audio storage as part of transcription. That is a narrow statement about Syren’s ordinary processing, not a promise about every technical log or a provider’s systems. Some custom companion voices also use a third-party voice provider. Read the policy before using a voice feature if those distinctions matter to you.

What does “erase everything” mean?

It means using the account deletion controls for data Syren can remove from its live systems. It does not mean instant deletion from all backups, every third-party provider, your own device, or earlier material you shared elsewhere. We would rather describe those limits clearly than offer a comforting but inaccurate guarantee. The FAQ answers common questions; the policy is the governing detail.
