Who operates Syren

Syren is operated by Aurandel, PBC, a Delaware public benefit corporation. This draft describes the private, invite-only beta. It is not a promise of anonymity or absolute confidentiality.

What we collect and why

Account data includes your email, a hashed password, invitation and verification status, and account settings. Conversation text, summaries, extracted memories, and companion preferences support continuity. Usage and cost logs help run the service. Device error logs contain technical details and are designed to exclude conversation content.

Invitation requests store your email and consent time. Contact messages store your email, message, and consent time. Please avoid sensitive details in the contact form. Anti-abuse controls temporarily record hashed network identifiers. Hosting and network services may keep request logs.

Voice and service providers

Your microphone audio is uploaded to the Syren backend and sent to the speech-to-text provider for transcription. The current backend holds these uploads in memory and does not write them to audio storage. Transcribed text can become conversation content and memories. This does not establish the transcription provider’s own retention practices.

The service uses DeepSeek for AI chat, OpenAI speech-to-text, self-hosted Supertonic speech synthesis, and Fish Audio for custom companion voices and fallback speech. Relevant conversation context goes to the chat provider, recorded audio to transcription, and response text to the speech provider. These providers process information under their own terms. Hosting and network delivery services also support the app.

Your controls and their limits

You can inspect and remove saved memories in the Memory Vault. A removed memory may still be present in earlier conversation text or a recap. Deleting your account through the in-app deletion removes the live account and its associated database records. It does not promise immediate deletion from backups or third-party systems. Contact us to request removal of a waitlist entry or contact message.

Retention and legal review

There is no published, verified retention schedule for every data category yet. Backup expiry, provider retention and training settings, geographic processing locations, and rights-request handling must be confirmed by the operator before this draft is finalized. We do not claim that conversations are never stored, that providers never retain requests, or that every copy disappears immediately.

Cookies and device storage

This website remembers the 18+ notice for one year with a first-party cookie. The app uses local storage for sign-in and app state, and a service worker for app assets. A saved root-domain session or installed-app launch redirects to the app subdomain. You may need to sign in again there.

Adults only and requests

Syren is only for people 18 or older. The website notice is not verification; beta access still requires an invitation and an approved account. Use our contact form for privacy requests or to report an underage account. We may need to verify account ownership before acting on a request.
